Our services

What We Do:

The formula is simple: At Healthy Roots we are committed to providing the best possible school meal experience, by delivering exceptional service and using only natural ingredients. We are mindful of origin, packaging and we source responsibly – locally when possible. Our ethics and transparency put us in “The Best of Show” category, AND, we like to have fun!

Passionate about Food:

At Healthy Roots, we LIVE food. We constantly update our menu database by developing new recipes and getting creative with ingredients.  Our Managing Director regularly works alongside the Head Chef to ensure that love AND the best ingredients go into each meal.

We assess the needs and requirements along with the Nutrition and Well-Being Policy of the schools we work with to produce menu options specific to their requirements; Some schools prefer to have their menu’s rotated on a three week cycle, and some schools prefer a more open approach to the meal time experience, by opting for new menu’s on a fortnightly basis, along with Daily Specials – regardless, Healthy Roots aim to meet your culinary and financial requirements.

Healthy Roots is led and managed by the founder, and as she is a Chef, the passion for quality ingredients runs deeply within the Team. We work with local farms, sourcing seasonal produce, and our free-range eggs come from a farm near Staplehurst, in Kent

We are passionate about healthy food tasting good and we provide for all dietary and cultural requirements.

Who we serve

Nursery

Great nutrition and a healthy relationship with food starts at the weaning stage. At Healthy Roots, we provide purees for babies not yet ready for solid food. We create a balanced, appealing and fun menu for the toddlers. We believe teaching children about what goes in o their food is vital.

Primary

As children move into their early school years, they need good food to fuel their growth and development. Our childrens’ favourite meals have a great mix of pastas, vegetables, and pulses to name but a few ingredients. Making food fun and tasty is key! Please view our menu samples to get an idea of what we serve.

Secondary

Senior school is a key time for teenagers with personal growth added to academic and sporting achievements taking front stage. We tailor our menus for the secondary school pupils and the culture of each school; so everyone receives food that is both nutritionally balanced and sociable to sit and eat together. We mix traditional favourites with more modern, global cuisine to give everyone a great eating experience

Boarding

At Healthy Roots, we work with the individual schools closely to find out what works for the boarders. Food evokes many happy memories of home, which boarders naturally miss from time to time. Meals need to be interactive, sociable and tasty. We also provide teas to give pupils that all important boost to get prep completed before supper time.

Fact!

Our menus are approved by the Children's Food Trust and comply with the guidelines set out by the Caroline Walker Trust.
